Bruno Cavellec
Born in Brittany in 1959, Bruno Cavellec’s atmospheric artwork is inspired by his life experiences and his love for music. As a self-taught artist, Bruno Cavellec's relationship to the world is fundamental to him. It represents the essence of his work and relates to emotive subjects such as absence, solitude, silence and infinity. In this ongoing process of self-discovery, composition, texture, marks and colours are all essential in shaping a reflection of his inner world. Once he has achieved the desired effect, the audience is invited to explore and experience, on both a visual and an emotional level his work.
Recently he has been experimenting with paintings based on favorite, familiar places, and focusing on the powerful impact that music has on his emotions. He says “Music has always been crucial to my artistic development. It has the rare ability to penetrate my very soul and to touch the darkest chords inside, allowing my spirit to range deeply and freely and is essential as a starting point”. Before painting, he immerses himself in music, letting the painting come, emerging naturally through the evocative melodies, and bringing back to the surface some fragments of soul, visions and thoughts. “When in an intense psychological mood, imbued with sounds and emotions, I concentrate this energy on the canvas, making it into a spiritual composition. Here are a few pieces of the human puzzle, in which one might find a familiar echo. I believe that, beyond the canvases, paintings still live, confronting us with our identity and redefining the places that surround us and the emptiness within. "
In the last four years his powerful paintings have been in a number of regional and national shows especially in Yorkshire and the Lake District.
